Photography
Painting and photography is a perfect blend. Photography is an art form in itself; one that Memory Roth has been pursuing most of her life.
At the age of 18 Memory bought her very first SLR camera, a Nikon FM, completely manual. She spent many hours learning how to take photos of everything imaginable from nature to buildings to people. When her children came along the camera was turned towards them. Not a day went by in her kids early years that photos weren't taken.
When the digital era came upon us and her oldest child was old enough to handle his own digital camera the love of photography was passed onto him.
As Memory continued to take photos her husband could see how much fun she was having and gave her a Canon Rebel digital camera for Christmas one year. Her oldest son and her shared the camera until he saved up for one of his own.
As the love of photography started to include painting, Memory used many of her photos as references for her art and continues to do so. Not only does she do photography for her art, she is also an event photographer and does individual and family portraits.
Memory has been the official photographer for the Edmonton's Whyte Avenue Artwalk 2015-2019, Night of Artists 2014-2019, and VASA (Visual Arts Studio Association), St. Albert Painters Guild (2023 to Present). Her photos have been published in school newsletters, yearbooks, the Night of Artist Magazine "NOA" (May 2014, March 2015, March 2016, March 2017, March 2018, March 2019), The St Albert Leader - front page (August 14, 2014), The St Albert Leader (March 2015), and T8N Magazine, T8N Magazine (on-line 2017), St. Albert Gazette (March 2017, March 2018), VASA Annual Reports, Edmonton Tourism, Canadian Lung Cancer Association Calendar, Edmonton Journal online (June 23, 2024), and on social media.
